How to protect tulips, peonies, roses from frost?

We have a frost warning in our area, Spotswood, NJ. Due to the unseasonally warm weather we've been having alot of plants here have buds or are blooming my question is: How do we protect them from the frost? Is there a safe way to cover them?

Light weight floating row covers offer several degrees of frost protection and won't weight down the plants or damage them. If you use old blankets to protect the plants, you may need to provide a framework of support to prevent the heavy material from flattening the plants.
