Flower Boxes

I live in zone 5 and I would like to make my flower boxes stand out this year...I do not want petunias becaue they are too much work deadheading. Do you have any ideas?

A couple plants that have worked well for me: portulaca and dusty miller (as a combination); and Diamond Frost euphorbia and your choice of colorful annual such as petunia (Wave petunias don't need deadheading), melampodium, short zinnia, short dahlia, etc.
