Can I plant daffodils now to bloom next spring?

I am landscaping an entire area of my yard and before I put down the grass seed, I was wondering if I could go ahead and put the daffodil bulbs in the ground so that I don't have to dig up the grass this fall.

You probably won't find daffodils right now. They are blooming everywhere and must go through their natural cycle with green foliage after the blooms to gather the nutrients and energy resources for next year's bloom. If you can find them, it won't hurt to plant them now. By the way, I tried daffodils in turf (mown lawn) areas and it didn't work well. The daffodil foliage must be left until it dies back on its own and it took so long--the grass grew and grew and looked really scruffy by the time we could finally mow.
