Can "Velvet Queen" sunflowers be used as cut flowers?

I'm going to plant "Velvet Queen" sunflowers. Can this variety be used as cut flowers?

Sunflowers make excellent cut flowers. When your plants start to bloom, cut the stems to any length you want (depending on the size vase you plan to use), then plunge them into water. If you?d like the sunflowers to last longer, keep the vase in a cool place and add a floral preservative to the water. (Floral preservative is available from most florists.) For the longest-lasting flowers, cut them and bring them inside when the blooms first start to unfold.
