How do I keep my dogs from sleeping in my flower beds?

My dogs use my flower beds as a place to sleep. How can I prevent them from lying on the flowers?

The surest way to protect plantings is to separate them from your pets with a physical barrier, such as a fence. Or you could try using dog-repellent chemicals to deter your dogs. Another option is to keep your dogs in a kennel or in the house when you aren't around to supervise them.  If you're serious about keeping your dogs out of a flower bed, you might mount a motion-sensor-triggered device that sprays water or emits high-frequency sounds. Another option is a buried electric fence that works with a collar that your dog wears. A beeping sound or a small electric shock can train your dogs to keep out of areas delineated by the buried wire.
