Deer in Garden

Is there any practical thing to keep deer fromeating my garden? I don't want to spend a fortune on gadgets.

Hi,

Thanks for writing. The only surefire way to deter deer is to put up a fence --- and unfortunately, the fence needs to be at least 8 feet tall to be effective.

There are other things you can try; some gardeners have had luck with these techniques and others haven't. But they include:

Using deer repellents (such as Liquid Fence, PlantSkydd, or Deer Stopper). Putting a radio out in your garden at nighttime. Putting a motion-activated light out in your garden. Using a motion-activated sprinkler. Planting varieties deer usually don't eat: http://www.bhg.com/gardening/gardening-by-region/south/deer-busters-the-top-deer-resistant-plants-for-the-south-/
