Balcony container garden with spiders mites.

A lovely balcony container garden facing north with spider mites ... impossible to get rid of the little buggers ... any suggestions? I have found a few tough flowers that will grow and bloom in containers ... with very little sunshine ... what plants would you suggest? My cats play on the balcony ... so I also have to make sure all is safe for Mesha and Pallo.

I usually can keep spider mites under control with a forceful water spray to wash them off the plants. It does take repeat treatments to get rid of the ones that may have survived the first couple of blasts of water. If that doesn't work for you, insecticidal soap or horticultural oil are quite safe and effective products for controlling mites.
