What can I use instead of peanut butter for someone with a peanut allergy?

If a recipe calls for crunchy peanut butter, can I substitute creamy because of my Aunt can't have nuts?

Hello! If your aunt is allergic to peanuts, she won't be able to eat crunchy or creamy peanut butter. Both are made from peanuts. Ask your aunt if she is allergic to just peanuts or if that includes all tree nuts (almonds, pecans, etc.). If she's not allergic to tree nuts, you can try substituting almond or cashew butter, depending on the recipe (make sure to check for any cross contamination warnings on the ingredients label). Otherwise, to play it safe, you might just want to avoid the whole "nut" issue and go with a different recipe. Let us know if you want to share the recipe for more specific advice. Good luck!
