What is the best temperature for deep frying a turkey?

What is the correct temp to deep fry a turkey? I have been told to put it in at 250 and bring it up to 350 and cook for 3.5 minutes per pound. And also when checking bird temp where do you test the temp at. Thank you

We recommend frying the turkey in 350 degree F. peanut or other vegetable oil for 3 minutes/pound. Take the internal temperature in the meaty part of the thigh (it should register 180 degree F.).
