What is the difference between a casserole dish and a baking dish?

In our recipes, use a rounded casserole dish when a 1 1/2-, 2-, or 3-quart casserole is called for. Baking dishes will either be square or rectangular in shape and will most typically be 2- or 3-quart in volume.
