What is candy coating?

Candy coating—also called confectionery coating or summer coating—is a dip for candies that usually consists of sugar, powdered milk, hardened vegetable fat, and flavorings. Candy makers often use this product because—since it contains no cocoa butter—it is less likely to melt than chocolate.
