I have heard that if you roll out Christmas cookies on powdered sugar instead of flour, they will be more tender. Is this true?

We have heard this tip, too, but have not found it to be true. Actually, extra sugar on the exterior of rolled cookies may cause excess browning. That is why, in the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen, we stick with rolling out our cookies on flour only.
