What is clear vanilla and where do I find it?

Clear vanilla is an imitation vanilla that has no color. It is used a lot by bakers in their icings so that the color of the icing stays pure white. You can usually find this among the flavorings in the baking aisle of larger grocery stores, or at stores where cake decorating supplies are sold.

It is artificial vanilla that is as clear as water in appearance. This means it will not have any impact on the colors added to the frosting. It is available at Michael's or cake & candy supply stores. Sometimes it is in grocery stores.
