Painting metal door

It will be pretty hard to remove the dents in a metal door but you can fill them in.  We usually use what you would use to fix a dent in a car…BONDO, a fiberglass body filler. This stuff is like spackle for metal work.  Mix some up..smooth it out…sand , prime and paint.  That prime step will be important for the entire door repaint.  Make sure you have a primer that is designed to be used on metal.  I have always had better luck with oil based primers on metal.  With the right primer you can use just about any topcoat including latex.
