What options are available to help me add storage to my kitchen?

I really need to organize my kitchen better. My cabinets are overflowing to the point where I have to take five things out just to reach the one thing I want. If I just had more storage space I think I could make everything more accessible. But how can I add storage space without a major remodeling?

I think there are two answers to your question: First, try freeing up space in your kitchen by emptying out your cabinets and putting back only what you use on a daily or weekly basis. For example, if you only use the portable rotisserie oven and ice cream maker once or twice a year, find a place for them in deep storage. You’ll be amazed at how much space this can free up for other things.

Second, check out the many clever storage products available to help make what you have more accessible. Cabinetry manufacturers offer accessories galore. Some of these products will be specific to certain cabinet lines, but every big box store has an aisle devoted to generic kitchen storage solutions anyone can use.

A combination of careful reorganization and purchase of a few organizing products can put what you need on a regular basis right at your fingertips. For a glimpse of what kitchen cabinet manufacturers are offering, see our video.
