Can I create a curved countertop out of granite?

I am replacing the countertop on my kitchen island with granite. The countertop I have now is L-shaped. I would like the new countertop to curve around the L with one side being three feet in width and the other side two feet in width. Is this possible with granite? How would it look?

If you are having a stone shop cut your granite, then this is very possible. Most stone companies will come out and make a template, and they have automated machines to make curves. As far as the size, you can usually overhang about one-third of the granite, but the stone shop can tell you for sure. For more granite countertop ideas, see our slide show.
