How can we blend laminate floors with real hardwood flooring?

We are remodeling a community center in our town. The original building has hardwood floors, but in the addition we are installing laminate. How can we blend the two? Should we put a threshold in between or would some other approach be better?

Because you probably won’t be able to really make the two blend, it is often best to make the two contrast, either by doing a complementing color (but not trying to match) or running the new material a different direction to distinguish the two areas. You will need a threshold to cover the joint where the two types of flooring meet.
